Tibet Travel Agency Offers Fully Supported Lhasa-Kathmandu Bicycle Tour

A biking tour of Tibet will test bikers strength and endurance as they make the journey from Lhasa to Kathmandu. Tibet Ctrip Travel Service-TCTS, a Lhasa based Tibet travel agency, now makes this journey possible through a combined new effort of experienced Tibetan guides, drivers, and camping support staff. Bikers will fly into Lhasa and spend a few days acclimatizing and sightseeing before setting off on the adventure. Along the way TCTS arranges comfortable accommodations in hotels and guesthouses; all camping equipment will be provided on portions of the new flexible itinerary where it is necessary to camp. Those who choose to bike Tibet will be rewarded with views of stunning scenery, opportunities to learn about Tibetan culture, and window into every day Tibetan life.

The tour begins in Lhasa where travelers will be given time to acclimatize to the altitude. After a groups native Tibetan guide picks them up from the airport, bikers are advised to rest, relax, and drink lots of water. Over these first few days it is important that bikers acclimatize properly in preparation for the journey ahead. In Lhasa, bikers will have a chance to orient themselves with Tibetan culture as they visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, along with Sera and Drepung Monasteries. Travelers looking for a more in depth cultural experience can also visit Norbulingka, summer palace of the Dalai Lama, and ask their guide where they can try authentic Tibetan foods like Momo and Tibetan Noodle.

After acclimatizing, the adventure begins! Riding a bike is a unique way to travel Tibet; bikers have more time to appreciate the scenery than those riding in a vehicle and cover more ground than those on a trekking tour. The tour passes Lake Yamdrok and makes stops in Gyantse and Shigatse to visit places like Kumbum Pagoda and Tashilhunpo Monastery. After several days of biking the group will reach Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world. They will camp overnight here and wake early the next day to catch views of Mt. Everest! After visiting Everest, its another few days to Tibets border with Nepal. Here bikers will meet their Nepali guide who will accompany them on the ride to Kathmandu.

On this epic mountain bike Tibet tour bikers will pass through Tibetan towns and villages, giving them a window into Tibetan life that most tourists miss out on. TCTS allows for a flexible itinerary so bikers can move at their own pace, a support vehicle follows the group in case anybody needs a break from peddling. For travelers convenience, bike rental can be arranged and camping support staff will prepare meals and snacks on the biking route. Based on TCTS experience, April-Mid May and August-October are the best times to undertake this journey. With availability filling up quickly, bikers are encouraged to begin planning their adventure soon.

Devin Moore provided this new release above. Devin is a travel writer and independent economic analyst based in Springfield, Missouri USA. In partnership with local Tibetan travel agency TCTS (tibetctrip.com), Devin Moore works to spread awareness of Tibet and its people through publishing Tibet travel information.

Seven Seas Worldwide Launch The Blog Cabin

Seven Seas Worldwide, a relocation company moving excess baggage and personal belongings around the world, is launching a separate blogging site entitled 'The Blog Cabin'.

Providing a mixture of travel advice, humour and stories, The Blog Cabin is a site that its creators hope will be the perfect accompaniment for the seasoned traveller.

'We wanted to bring something to the company that demonstrated our passion for, and extensive knowledge of, travelling the globe,' said Director John Henderson. 'The team has come up with a lighthearted blog which doesn't take itself too seriously yet offers the right balance of entertainment and guidance.'

Among the features on the Blog Cabin will be country-guides, a weekly rundown of the best (and worst) travel gadgets, the best holiday deals and - perhaps most interestingly - the extraordinary stories of travel writer Travis Monk whom the company have decided to keep shrouded in mystery. 'He's been round the world and back again,' said Mr. Henderson, 'and we're delighted to promote his unique approach to travel writing.'

The Blog Cabin is available at www.sevenseasworldwide.com/blog.

Short on time? Local Tibet Travel Agency Takes Foreign Travelers to See Tibetan Culture on a New 4 Day Tour in Lhasa

For the upcoming travel season, Tibet travel agency (tibetctrip.com) provides an opportunity for travelers on a tight schedule to witness culture on tour in Tibet. In just four days it is possible to visit some of Tibets most famous cultural sites, sample some Tibetan food, and then move onto to another destination such as China or Nepal. Frequently travelers find themselves with a whole list of places to visit and little time. Whether it be a brief Tibet holiday or part of a much longer adventure, a four day visit to Lhasa can be perfect for those on a schedule.

Whether coming from China or going from Kathmandu to Lhasa, a typical four-day itinerary would look like this:

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa. Guides will meet groups at the train station or airport and accompany them to Lhasa for rest and acclimatization. Once checked in to a hotel, some light walking and exploring can be a great way to acclimatize to the altitude. Be sure to drink lots of water.

Day 2: Guided sightseeing in Lhasa. Tourists can visit Jokhang Temple and Potala Palace. These places are among the most critically important cultural assets of the Tibetan people and are sure to be the highlight of any culture tour in Tibet. After, practice your bargaining skills in the winding pathways of Barkhor Bazaar.

Day 3: More guided sightseeing in Lhasa. After breakfast groups will head to west Lhasa to tour Drepung Monastery, which once housed over 10,000 monks. In the afternoon, catch the famous debating monks at Sera Monastery.

Day 4: Many travelers like to do a bit more exploring before its time to head to the airport. The groups guide will see them off at the airport.

The amount of ground that can be covered in four days is surprising. Located in the outskirts of Lhasa, the famous debating monks of Sera Monastery can be seen debating most afternoons. A Tibetan guide will be able to explain the significance of the debate topics and the rules and procedures by which they are carried out. The sprawling Drepung Monastery was at one time the largest monastery in the world and functioned as a place of learning for Tibetan Buddhist monks.

Potala Palace, former residence of the present and many past Dalai Lamas, is certainly an architectural wonder. Sitting atop a hill, this mammoth structure towers over Lhasa and provides incredible views. Visitors will walk where previous Dalai Lamas have walked and see their final resting places among countless cultural treasures. Potala palace is nothing short of enchanting. Jokhang Temple, just a stone throw away, houses the only known image of the Shakyamuni Buddha Siddhartha Gautama. These destinations are among the best Tibet has to offer.

Even just visiting Lhasa in Tibet can be an incredibly worthwhile use of limited travel time. This four-day tour gives travelers the opportunity to learn about Tibetan culture while still leaving time to visit other awe inspiring places such as China or Nepal, a travel agent can easily extend a tour to include some of these destinations. For those on a short holiday, Lhasa-Gonggar Airport connects to several nearby major cities in China making it easy to catch a flight home.

For the most up to date information, contact the Tibet travel agency directly.
