Hodgdon Group Completes Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Montclair

COLTON, CALIF. The Hodgdon Group, a full-service real estate brokerage, development and construction firm, announced today that it has completed construction of the conversion of the former Borders Books and Music building at Montclair Plaza in Montclair, Calif., for the opening of an Ashley Furniture HomeStore on May 17, 2013. Hodgdon Group's HMC Construction, Inc. handled all entitlements and served as the design-build contractor for the major renovation of the 42,000-square-foot freestanding building located at 5055 S. Montclair Plaza Lane. The Montclair location represents the 16th Ashley Furniture HomeStore to be completed by the Hodgdon Group. Hodgdon Realty Group represented Ashley Furniture in the lease negotiation with Montclair Plaza. In March, Hodgdon completed the renovation of a former Babies "R" Us building on behalf of Ashley Furniture for a new Ashley Furniture HomeStore in West Covina at the Eastland Center.

Located near the intersection of Central Avenue and I-10 Freeway in the heart of San Bernardino County, Montclair Plaza is a 1.2 million-square-foot enclosed two-level regional shopping center anchored by JCPenney, Macys, Nordstrom and Sears and includes Barnes & Noble, H&M, Cotton On, Victorias Secret, Coach, LOFT, Sephora and a host of fine eateries such as Macaroni Grill and Elephant Bar.

"This is a great location with excellent visibility and accessibility on one of the most heavily traveled thoroughfares in the U.S.," said Aaron Hodgdon, President of Hodgdon Group. Montclair Plaza averages 33,000 customers per day and nearly 12 million customer visits annually.

"The City of Montclair was very helpful in fast-tracking approvals to accommodate our very compressed construction schedule," said Hodgdon. " We completed the interior demolition, build out and the construction in record time. We received our building permit for the exterior work on April 11th and had the work completed for the opening today. We couldn't have accomplished this without a close working relationship with the city and the landlord, and an amazing construction team." Hodgdon Group's Dan Wallner served as Project Manager and Thom Duncan was the Senior Superintendent. KTGY Group of Irvine was the project architect.
