Fort Collins Auto Repair Shop, Fort Collins Foreign Car Service, Reports Substantial Business From Ignition Interlock Installation and Maintenance

Fort Collins Foreign Car Service, a Fort Collins auto repair shop which has been servicing vehicles for over 40 years, is seeing a significant portion of their business coming from the installation and maintenance of alcohol monitoring devices. The venerable repair shop started sub-contracting with Guardian Interlock Systems in 2001 in order to diversify the services that they offer at the shop and to help promote safe driving in the Fort Collins area.
"The Guardian Interlock system helped us get through a tough economy," said Fort Collins Foreign auto repair shop owner, Bill Cooper. "I originally thought it would benefit us mostly through developing relationships with those customers and hopefully getting their business down the line, because they were so pleased with the results. Now it has become almost a business of its own," Cooper said.
An ignition interlock device is typically installed on the vehicle of an individual who has been convicted of a DUI violation. In exchange for allowing the convicted driver to drive their own vehicle with a restricted license, the ignition interlock requires that the driver complete a breathalyzer-like test by blowing into a handheld device installed into the vehicle to verify that they are not impaired before the car can be started.
In Colorado, ignition interlock devices are required if the convicted driver had a BAC of .17 or higher (more than twice the legal limit) at the time of the incident, or if this is not the first offense. In other cases, drivers who are convicted of a DUI may be eligible to have the device installed in order to reduce the amount of time that their license is suspended.
Fort Collins Foreign Car Service has been providing quality Fort Collins auto repair services since 1971 and continues to be one of the most highly-rated car repair shops in the area. In 1985, Cooper purchased the business from its founder, Walter Heppner, who emigrated from Germany. Since then, Cooper and four trusted auto technicians have been successfully performing mechanical repairs and regular maintenance on all manner of vehicles.
"The people that I work with are the best," said Cooper. "I'm a fortunate man."
Contrary to their name, Fort Collins Foreign Car Service does repairs and maintenance on domestic as well foreign vehicles. If you are looking for a trustworthy and reputable Fort Collins auto repair shop, they can be found at 1219 Blue Spruce Drive in north Fort Collins, and online at www.auto-repair-fort-collins.com. Feel free to drop in and say hello to their friendly mascots, Chester, a 12-year-old chocolate Labrador Retriever, and Lucy, a two year old Australian Cattle Dog, or call 970-482-4331 with any questions.
