Dallas Company Improves Literacy With Revolutionary App

DALLAS, Texas (February 13, 2013) Ruck-A-Roo, LLC has created an extraordinary childrens mobile application that will surely take the marketplace by storm. The app, Tell-N-Spell, is a picture dictionary with so many features it makes the classification of dictionary a complete understatement. Tell-N-Spell offers two functions; Tell is the speech search for children to see the spelling of a word they say, and Spell allows children to type a word to hear correct pronunciations. But that isnt the only thing this impressive app offers.

While the app has a fun look and feel that kids will appreciate, all spelling animations are shown on a plain colored screen, which provide one area of focus; on the spelling graphics. According to Nichole Rucker, Roo founder and app creator, by incorporating auditory and visualizations into the app the chances of successfully retaining the information, correctly and quickly, increase significantly.

The Tell-N-Spell has over 4,000 child appropriate words and definitions, which far exceed the average 150 that other children dictionary apps offer. This includes all 220 Sight Words (Dolch Words) that every kindergarten - 2nd grader is required to memorize regardless of public, private or home schooling status. Icons appear after each spelling and/or pronunciation that give children the options to repeat, view a photo or see and hear the definition. For the few words that do not have photos available, example sentences are provided.

While other dictionary apps offer only the audio speaking of the word, the Tell-N-Spell reads the complete definition while highlighting the definition text. This allows children to follow the text as it is being read just as if they were following the text with their finger as instructed by most literacy professionals Rucker states. The text highlighting is another feature not offered in competing apps.

The Tell-N-Spell developed a new recipe for education success with its cutting-edge technology, proven auditory/visualization elements and a comprehensive word/definition database that will undoubtedly set the course for the next generation of educational tools. The app will be available for iOS (3GS and higher), Android (Gingerbread 2.3 and higher) and Windows 8 platforms Summer 2013. For further information, please visit our website at www.ruck-a-roo.com.
