Wikicollecting launches new auction catalogue index

Wikicollecting.org, the open-source collectors website, has announced the launch of its new auction catalogue index.

The online encyclopaedia, which launched in February 2011, now offers free fully-illustrated catalogue hosting for auction houses along with a helpful new index for readers.

Over 50 international auction houses, including PBA Galleries, Keno Auctions, Hansons, IAA, McTears and Rago, now host their catalogues on Wikicollecting with more companies signing up every week. And unlike many similar sites, Wikicollecting provides the realised sale prices of every sale for free, with no sign-up necessary.

Our new auction catalogue index will help our users keep up-to-date with the latest sales and provide a great database of realised prices, said Wikicollecting spokesperson Louise Benson-James.

The whole ethos of the site is to build a free resource for collectors around the world so its free for auction companies to host their catalogues with us and free for our readers to look up prices. Its perfect for collectors trying to put a value on their own items, and can help auction companies of every size connect with new potential customers.

In addition to the new catalogue index, Wikicollecting has streamlined many of the sites most popular categories including:

- The latest up-to-date auction news
- The Top 10 lists, featuring the worlds weirdest and most expensive collectibles
- The weekly feature articles, taking a closer look at the history behind vintage collectibles and memorabilia

By bringing together tens of thousands of pages in these new indexes, we want to make it as easy as possible for readers to find the information theyre looking for, said Benson-James.

Were adding thousands of new articles and pages every week, with the help of our amazing contributors, and we want to ensure that Wikicollecting remains a valuable free resource thats easy for everyone to use no matter what they collect.
