Manhattanville College School of Graduate and Professional Studies to Kick-Off Chelsea Piers Relationship with Sport Business Management Classes

Manhattanville College School of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) announced today it is offering courses at the new Chelsea Piers facility in Stamford, CT, starting with its successful Sport Business Management graduate program. The program is currently running its highly rated International Sport Management class at the facility.

This is a natural progression for our program, said Dave Torromeo, Director of the Sport Business Management program. Our Sports Business Management Masters of Science degree program provides opportunities for internships, offers annual career fairs and, perhaps most significantly, networking opportunities. All of these benefits are extended by classes at Chelsea Piers new facility in Stamford.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut Executive Director, Mollie Marcoux says the new facility is the perfect setting for graduate students to learn the business of sports. We are pleased to welcome the Manhattanville Sports Management program to our world-class sports facilities. With 400,000 square feet Chelsea Piers Connecticut offers the area's most dynamic sports programming, and we look forward to developing a long-term relationship with Manhattanville and its students.

Manhattanville's thriving Sports Business Management graduate program provides individuals with the necessary knowledge and business skills to assume a leadership role in sports management and alumni have jobs with many professional sports organizations including the USTA, Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Jets, Giants, Islanders, Olympics and sporting venues. The program is distinguished by industry executives who teach targeted master's level classes on sports business from marketing and entrepreneurship, to sports law, facility management and sport business and technology in the global market.

The Sports Business Management programs off-site extension is one of the first steps toward the expansion of Manhattanvilles Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) program designed for graduating college seniors and working professionals who wish to improve their business management and leadership skills. GPS will expand its new relationship with Chelsea Piers in the fall by offering additional courses to be held at the Stamford facility.

We are very excited about this new relationship, said Anthony R. Davidson, MBA, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. As we continue to broaden the GPS educational spectrum we look for opportunities to better serve our students. Many of our students come from Fairfield County and offering courses in such an easily accessible location will allow them to balance classes and other responsibilities.
