Shopping Made Easier with Swift Shopper App

Swift Shopper, a new smartphone app, is simplifying the retail checkout process, cutting retail checkout time by as much as 30 percent.

Here is how it works. While shopping, the customer scans the barcode of each item being purchased with Swift Shopper. At checkout, the cashier flips through the phones list of items purchased, scanning each one. The customer then pays for the items, and the transaction is completed.

By using Swift Shopper, customers dont have to pull items from the cart to have them scanned, bagged and replaced in the cart. Instead, the only time the customer removes items from the cart is when placing them in an automobile to take home. Cashiers also benefit, as they dont have to hunt for an items barcode. They simply scan the barcodes on the phone.

Additionally, environmentally conscious individuals who use reusable bags can load items into their bags as they shopbefore reaching the checkout aisle. This allows shoppers to ensure bread, fruit, vegetables and other delicate items dont get damaged in the bagging process. And those heavy items in or under the cart can stay put until placed into the shoppers automobile.

Mother of four Naomi Wilson created the app out of frustration with the retail experience that is common to many parents.

With Swift Shopper, the kids are focused on scanning items as we shopnot begging for more stuff, said Wilson. At the register, all my energy can be spent on watching my children, since I dont have to unload my cart.

Though many retailers offer their own apps with various purposes, Swift Shopper reads any barcode. Therefore, it can be used at any retail store with handheld scanners, without cost to the retailer or shopper. A premium version of Swift Shopper is available for $1.99.
